December 2004 President's Message
Sheila Stanford
Dear Colleagues,
As every fundraiser knows, ’tis the season. The fundraising season, that is. During the last calendar quarter of the year, more people give more money than at any other time of the year.
So I know you are very busy right now and that, in many cases, the success or failure of your organization’s overall fundraising year rides on how generously your donors respond to your appeals in these closing days of 2004. I wish you every success.
The chapter’s fundraising efforts are in high gear, too, and you will shortly receive an annual fund solicitation asking you to support our workshops, brown bags, senior management breakfasts, this newsletter, our website, Fund Raising Day, National Philanthropy Day, as well as our strategic plan and ongoing efforts to monitor and keep you apprised of state and national regulatory developments and their impact on your work. With almost 1,000 members and over 2,000 participants in our more than 50 educational offerings each year, the Greater New York chapter needs your steadfast support more than ever before.
Right after the holidays, the chapter’s board will revisit our strategic plan, reshaping and honing our goals and objectives to ensure that members’ needs are met. As you know, finances play a major role in our ability to meet those goals. That is why I urge you to respond as generously as you possibly can to the chapter’s annual fund appeal.
In addition to a successful year-end fundraising season, I wish you the happiest of holidays and a 2005 filled with success and prosperity.
