 Dear Colleagues,
As Chair of the Greater New York Chapter’s Member Services Committee, I am keenly interested in making sure our members take full advantage of the many benefits of membership offered by our Association.
Our committee—some twenty members strong—is here to welcome you andencourage your participation. There are many opportunities to advance your fundraising career and to develop a strong network of professional colleagues if you get involved.
One of the main reasons that people join AFP is to network. With that in mind, the chapter hosted its first “Networking Exclusive” and had some 125 members come out to meet and mingle with other Development professionals. Based on its popularity we will continue to offer these events in the future.
Other benefits? There are many:

Comprehensive and expert educational programs from Fundamentals of Fundraising to Mini-Academies;

Fund Raising Day in New York, National Philanthropy Day, members only roundtables; half-day seminars, and luncheon programs—all with special member rates;

A Jobs Bank listing (now updated upon receipt of new listings) and mentoring/resume review clinics;

An annual Membership Directory linking you to other members and to services of many vendors who provide fundraising services;

Monthly e-newsletter providing updates on Chapter activities, and information on fundraising best practices.
But wait! There’s more!
Benefits from the International office include the National Fund Raising Library and Information Resource Center, APF Journal, AFP News and the Annual International Conference with member discounts on many services.
We are hosting a New Member Orientation this spring to ensure that our members are fully aware of the benefits of AFP membership. All members—new and returning—are invited to attend. Come learn about benefits, have your questions answered and find out about volunteer opportunities within the Chapter. You will also meet members of the Board and Member Services committee, as well as representatives from the AFP International office. Watch for an upcoming email with dates and location.
