June 2007 Chair, Nominating Committee
Sheila Stanford
Dear AFP Member:
As a member of AFP's Greater New York Chapter, you have the power to influence the focus and direction of the Association in a very concrete way - by participating in the AFP Board of Directors' nominating process. As chair of the 2007 Nominating Committee, I encourage you to help the committee identify individuals who can assist the board in effectively serving our members and the profession.
Here is how the process works. You can nominate someone you know who has demonstrated leadership as a development professional or as a member of an AFP committee or task force. (That includes yourself, should you be interested in providing service.) The Nominating Committee appreciates learning about development professionals who are willing to lend us their leadership and organizational talents to serve our profession.
If you are planning to nominate candidates, please ask them, before submitting their names, whether they are willing to serve. If they are, kindly provide us with a copy of their current resume along with the attached form. To review a list of expectations and responsibilities for board members, click here. Following nomination, potential candidates are reviewed by the committee, and a slate of nominees for the Class of 2010 is presented at the chapter's annual meeting, to be held in October. The deadline for all completed nomination forms is July 31, 2007.
The evaluation criteria used by the committee includes:
• demonstrated leadership ability
• service to AFP, philanthropy and the community locally and/or nationally
• particular leadership needs of the Association at the time candidates are being considered
• education/training
• diversity (all inclusive)
• type of professional practice
• is a current AFP member in good standing (signed the Code of Ethical Principles and Standards of Professional Practice, and membership is current)
Thank you in advance for helping us expand our search for dedicated and talented leadership for our AFP chapter.
Sincerely,

Sheila Stanford
Immediate Past President
Chair, AFP Nominating Committee |
