November 2007 President's Message
Patricia A. Moran, CFRE
Dear Colleagues,
The Greater New York Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals will join with nearly 100 other chapters in the United States and Canada to celebrate National Philanthropy Day (NPD). NPD is a special day set aside in November to recognize the great contributions of philanthropy -- and those people active in the philanthropic community -- to the enrichment of our world. The celebration provides an opportunity to reflect on the meaning of giving and the positive outcomes of our charitable society at the international, national and local level. The board of directors of the Greater New York Chapter and its 900 plus members take this special opportunity to show appreciation to philanthropists and leaders in our community
The Greater New York Chapter’s celebration of NPD will take place at the Rainbow Room on November 13 and we are pleased to present a conversation with John C. Whitehead, Chairman, Goldman Sachs Foundation and Lesley Stahl, 60 MINUTES, CBS News Correspondent. The conversation will focus on Mr. Whitehead’s philanthropic endeavors and the current state of philanthropy in New York City and beyond.
At the 2007 luncheon we will honor more than 20 individuals who are leading philanthropists. These outstanding individuals will be inducted into the Honor Roll of Philanthropy joining other nonprofit leaders from previous National Philanthropy Day celebrations in New York City.
The Greater New York City Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals is pleased to present this special celebration dedicated to the American tradition of giving and helping make our community, New York City, a better place to live and work.
I hope you will join us at the Rainbow Room on Tuesday, November 13 to celebrate National Philanthropy Day 2007.
