Maurice Gurin Scholarships

The Greater New York Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals is proud to offer a limited number of scholarships to Fund Raising Day in New York 2008. Funding for the scholarships is provided by members of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, who recognize the importance of developing professional skills in their field through training at the nation’s largest, single-day conference on fund raising.

Named in memory of Maurice Gurin, who exemplified the highest standards of excellence during his long and accomplished fund raising career, the Gurin Memorial Scholarship Program enables motivated, talented men and women to attend a wide variety of informative workshops and seminars offered at Fund Raising Day in New York.  Maurice Gurin Memorial Scholarships are awarded to individuals within the Greater New York Chapter of AFP who would otherwise be unable to participate in the conference.

The scholarship entitles you to attend the full conference free of charge, as well as a special scholar orientation and pre-conference cocktail reception the evening before. (The fees for the conference range from $260 to $450 depending on time of registration.) Each application must be accompanied by a $25 application fee. The application fee will be returned if a scholarship is not awarded.

To qualify for a scholarship, an applicant must be currently employed by or volunteering for a 501 (c) (3) organization, and must live or work within the geographic boundaries of the Greater New York Chapter of AFP (the five boroughs of New York City and the surrounding suburbs).  Applicants should also be either:

(a) a full-time or part-time fundraiser who is new to the field.

(b) an individual with extensive volunteer and/or professional experience in the nonprofit sector who seeks to expand his or her knowledge of fund raising.

To be considered for a Maurice Gurin Scholarship, please download and complete the application.  Adobe Acrobat is required.
